How to Contribute to the AD&D Toolkit Project

You’ve discovered AD&D Toolkit, seen how awesome-sauce it is and you’re excited. Like, really excited. It’s got you all amped up for playing Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. You’re the creative type, of course, or you wouldn’t be playing AD&D in the first place. Your brain is spinning out all kinds of raw ideas and you want to share them. You want to become an active contributor to the community but don’t know what to do. Let me get you started.

Donate

Many, many hours weekly go into developing and maintaining the project, as well as financial expenses and we would sure appreciate your assistance. Our wish, in an ideal world, is that our users would regularly pitch in a few dollars to help maintain and grow the community. We have chosen to operate under the honor system and let people donate on their own terms. If you would like to contribute, take a look at our donation page. Regular contributions, even small ones, go a long way in growing the project.

Other Ways to Contribute

If you cannot afford a few dollars on a regular basis right now, there are other ways you can support the project. Join our other social media communities and offer some likes and positive comments from time to time. This helps attract new people and the growth will benefit us all:

Recruit Your Friends

The easiest way to help support the project is to simply recommend us to your friends and peers in other AD&D communities. Simply letting people know the tool exists often is marketing enough. It is quite frequent that we hear, “I’ve been looking so long for something like this!”.

Programming Development

AD&D Toolkit is an individual labor of love that has taken hold of the hearts of thousands. Many of those thousands want to be more involved in its growth as we all love AD&D and this is a fantastic enhancement for it. As of the writing of this article, we are not accepting any coding assistance. Programming development is a bit more comprehensive and there are some opportunities presently there.

AD&D Content Support

AD&D in all it’s editions/expansions/kits/homebrewed creations is nearly limitless in variety. We cannot expect to support it all. So we prioritize based upon popularity. If you have some particular aspect or feature you think the community would benefit from in regards to Toolkit development, we strongly encourage you to post in our discord #suggestions channel. Other members can react or comment there and more positive reactions earns more priority.

The best content related suggestions cite sources for the content you would like to see supported. Naming the manual and page numbers where you content is detailed makes things a lot easier in understanding what it is you would like included. A brief description on what the problem is and how you see a solution for it working.

Testing New Features

We are constantly growing and improving the project. We have a very small group of testers that, well, test our new features on a development server before it is released to the public. Experience in coding, gaming, exceptional AD&D knowledge, all come in handy though are not required. You should #create-ticket with interest.
