In the Campaign Manager, you can find a lot of information that is there for your convenience and use, but remains optional. One such feature is randomized weather. The data is presented but completely up to the DM to leverage or ignore.
Adventure Data
Under this heading, you will find the current Campaign Day, Month, Year, Season, Temperature, and Precipitation. The temperature and precipitation factors in the time of year, as well as the local climate and terrain to determine the day’s weather data.
Locale
The Manage City module allows the DM to select the city to Activate. Only one city can be active at a time. This is often the homebase of the party but not necessarily. Whichever of your cities the party is geographically closest to should be selected. This will determine shop vendors and, you guessed it, climate and terrain for impacting weather patterns.
Daily Changes
Each time the DM employs the Advance Day module in the Campaign Manager, new weather conditions will be rolled.
Why Use Weather?
Weather is one of the many aspects of AD&D that can (and should!) impact gameplay. Your players need to account for it when traveling outdoors or suffer a consequence. Particularly in extremes such as mountainous terrain during January in a cold climate. There are also spells that are weather-dependent such as the Druid Call Lightning spell. Weather can also impact visibility and consequently Surprise and Encounter Distance. AD&D Toolkit once again makes it easy in employing these systems without slowing down gameplay because the table-referencing and calculations are done for you, behind the scenes.
